Southern Railway Recruitment 2010

4.1 The examination fee of Rs.40/- (Rupees forty only) is payable either in the form of Demand Drafts (DD) / Indian Postal Orders (IPO), drawn in favour of Assistant Personnel Officer / Recruitment, payable at Chennai.

4.2 DDs and IPOs should have the validity period of six months.

4.3 DDs and IPOs issued before the date of issue of this Employment Notice or after the closing date will not be accepted and the Southern Railway application form will be rejected.

4.4 Southern Railway Chennai Applications received with Cash / Cheque / Central Recruitment Fee Stamps and Money Orders will not be accepted and will be Rejected.

4.5 Candidates must write their name, full address at the space provided in the postal order / at the back of Demand Draft.

4.6 The examination fee is not refundable / transferable / adjustable under any circumstances.

4.7 Separate Southern Railway application form and separate examination fees should be submitted in case of candidates applying under different quota viz. Cultural and Scouts & Guides.

4.8 Fee Exemptions:

SC / ST candidates, Ex-Servicemen, Persons with Disabilities, Women candidates, Minority candidates and candidates belonging to Economically Backward Classes are exempted from payment of examination fees.

Note:

  • Minorities will mean Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Zorastrians (Parsis).
  • Economically backward classes will mean the candidates whose family income is less than Rs.50,000/- per annum.

4.9 Authorities competent to issue income certificates for the purpose of identifying economically backward classes.

  1. District Magistrate or any other Revenue Officer up to the level of Tehsildar.
  2. Sitting Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha for persons of their own constituency.
  3. Below Poverty Line (BPL) Card or any other certificate issued by Central Government under a recognised poverty alleviation programme of Izzat MST issued by Railways.
  4. Union Minister may also recommend for any persons from anywhere in the country.
  5. Sitting Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha for persons of the district in which these MPs normally reside.

Note: The certificates should be in the prescribed format (proforma is available in the web site) and a copy of the same should be enclosed with theSouthern Railway application form, failing which his / her Southern Railway application form shall be rejected.

5.0 Community Certificate:

5.1 Even though no post is exclusively reserved for OBC and SC / ST candidates, the candidates belonging to OBC and SC / ST communities are required to produce caste certificates from the competent Authority in the prescribed format (proforma is available in the web site) and enclose a copy of the same with the application, failing which his / herSouthern Railway application form shall be rejected.

5.2 The Community Certificates produced by the OBC candidates should specifically indicate that the candidate does not belong to persons / sections (creamy layer).

6.0 Medical Examination:

Candidates recommended for appointment will have to pass the requisite medical fitness standards prescribed for the posts to be identified by theSouthern Railway administration.

7.0 Choice of Language for Question Paper:

The candidates must choose any one of the following languages only. Hindi or English or Urdu or Tamil or Malayalam or Kannada or Telugu.

8.0 Cultural Quota:

8.1 Essential Qualification for Cultural Quota:

Candidates should possess Degree / Diploma / Certificate in Music / Dance from Government recognised institutes.

8.2 Desirable Qualification for Cultural Quota:

Experience in the field and performance given on AIR / Doordarshan, etc. Prizes won at National level.
